Danny’s Big Day Out 😁
I woke up to the sound of my mum screaming at me. I thought I had a good 30 minutes until I needed to go to mens 2 but it turns out I was wrong. I looked on my phone and Josh Headey messaged on the group asking if anyone can play mens 1 and a promise of “a LOT of game time”. I thought to myself there is no way of me playing in that because i’m playing for the 2s.. oh how wrong I was!
Whilst I was peacefully sleeping, about 10 minutes before I was rudely awaken, apparently Johno has been on the phone to my mum and everything has been sorted out. I’m apparently playing for mens 1 at 14!!
My mum and I arrived at Blatchington Mill school and I headed over to the changing rooms, got my red tshirt on and before I knew it I was making my way to the pitch. I said to Ryan “I've got 2 goals today: Step on the pitch, and pass” and the first step on the pitch was met with “done it Ryan”. The team warmed up and got ready for the game, and I must say the nerves were running high. We had 0 subs, so I would be playing a whole game and would be playing striker.
Straight off the back I ran to the 23 line and annoyed some 30 year old men which one of them did tell me to stop running but I gladly declined. Connor ran down the left side and hit the ball lifted towards the p spot which met my stick but it went wide of the goal but that was very nerve wracking!! After multiple chances from everyone and a few cards (and a little elbow to the chin for me) met with half time, however, it looked like we were going to go into half time 1-0 down, but when a short corner was given everyone ran down and the ball hurtled towards someone’s shins and it did sound like it hurt. Shortly after, the medical team was there (thanks Bailey) and he went off the pitch but we got the goal on the deflection! 1-1.
Second half was quite like the first half, I was annoying some men that did look like they were vikings, some hard tackles and some opportunities but both teams scored so end result 2-2. Shortly after the game ended, I had to hop in the car and travel all the way back down to hailsham, to go play for millers against st francis!
