Hailsham's Mens 2s travelled to Eastbourne for their first league game of the season against Eastbourne 4s.
In a wet first half, Hailsham started well from push back, attacking down the left before scoring their first, a Connor Agnew cross converted at short range by Johnny Bartett within 30 seconds. The game was then end to end with Hailsham weathering heavy pressure finishing the first half 2-1 down.
The second half was much like the first, end to end with perhaps more pressure from Eastbourne. Aiden "aerial" Miller couldn't get past Eastbourne's defence with his repeated bombs.
The game was on a knife edge with a penalty corner awarded when the final whistle was blown. To this point, Eastbourne had scored again and Connor Agnew was sat with 2 goals to his name, and a missed penalty stroke. 3-3 at the final whistle. The penalty corner was taken, with a second penalty corner awarded after striking an Eastbourne foot from the initial shot. The second corner saw Connor Agnew converting his hat-trick, and earning Man of the Match, with a strong flick past a despairing Eastbourne keeper leaving Hailsham taking the away win and 3 points.
Man of the Match: Connor Agnew
